The Rotunda, located at 4014 Walnut Street in Philadelphia, PA, is a community-gathering place that is fueled by the belief that art is a catalyst for social change and that the arts can lead to the formation of meaningful partnerships between the University of Pennsylvania and surrounding neighborhoods. Over 300 events are offered every year, including live music, film, spoken word, theater, art, dance, education, youth programs, arts incubation, and various experimental genres. As an alcohol-free, smoke-free venue, The Rotunda provides a critical social alternative for all ages. At its core, The Rotunda is a shared space fostering learning, enrichment, and community support while empowering the public to present, produce, and promote their work.

This ongoing seasonal series features a variety of dance/movement/theater mediums, live electronic/acoustic music, vocalists & poetry/spoken-word presentations, circus/fire/flow arts performances, community art creations, live painting & VJ projections…

May 7th: Spring Fire Lights the Night & Lunar Celebrations!
• Armour Sisters (Angela & Michelle)-a dynamic sister duo, passionate
about fire dance, flow & healing arts, plus writing & performing original music in their band Silver Skies.
• Bill Fieger-Recording Artist, Performer & Composer of electronic/acoustic
music, modifying & creating new instruments, taking music to new places.
• Jan Jefferies & M.O.M. (Music Over Matter)-Under the expert tutelage
of founder and percussionist, Jan Jeffries, this dynamic percussion ensemble shares their tradition of West African drumming.
• Lauren Raske-Produces fire stage shows including performances with
improv, duet, & group choreography both locally & internationally. She also teaches fire safety/flow arts technique workshops.
• Oriental Fitness Institute- (T’ai Chi Chuan Demonstration) draws on
Taoist wisdom and practices from both ancient and modern traditions where East meets West.
• Plum Dragoness (a.k.a. Gabrielle de Burke)-the resident artist/organizer
for this ongoing community arts event, since 2007. She’s a thespian, dancer, instructor & poetess known for her “style” of vocal performance, fire dance, flow arts & choreographic flair in Philadelphia & abroad.
• Text Rich (a.k.a. Ali Richardson)-using his gifts for traditional
acoustic/electric instruments & vocal interpretations to rock the mic!
• VJ Spooky-this Philadelphia based VJ enhances events w/ a multimedia
